☞ Pentecost Sunday: A Christian Celebration!
Ever had to wait awhile for a gift you knew you were getting? After Jesus arose from the dead, and just before he ascended (went back up) into heaven, Jesus told the Disciples to wait for a special promised gift. This gift was the Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will
send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
The apostles were obeying Jesus’ instructions and were gathered together praying in Jerusalem in an upstairs room. Then 10 days later a special thing happened. On this day Jews that had travelled from many different countries were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate Pentecost, a big feast time where God’s people brought gifts as offerings to God. (Leviticus 23:15-21)
Suddenly, while they were praying, they all were filled up to overflowing with God's amazing Holy Spirit, so full that they began to speak in languages they didn't even know. This would be like you or me suddenly speaking in Japanese, which we never learned to speak. That would be so funny, because we wouldn't even know what we were saying ourselves. But, they were praising God in all these different languages.
And guess what? All those visiting people spoke many different languages. So, everybody in the street heard this loud commotion, and all of them could understand what Jesus' Disciples were saying about the greatness of Jesus. Of course, they wanted to know what in the world all this meant. The Apostle Peter stood up and told them how they could be filled with the Holy Spirit too. Then they were all filled with the Holy Spirit right there on the spot.
My Bibles in Foreign Languages: Hebrew, Spanish, Greek NewTestament, Greek OldTestament, German, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Igbo (African,) Korean, Farsii (Arabic,) French, and Russian.
I like to collect Bibles in different languages. I would love to have more, especially a Swahili Bible, which I have not been able to find anywhere. I can read much of the Spanish and New Testament Greek, and a few words in Hebrew. But, many of the ones I own I can not read myself. They remind me that God has a word for all His children. I also like to give them away when I meet someone who does not have a Bible in their own language. Then I order me another one in that language. So far, I have only had the opportunity to give away Russian, Vietnamese, and Spanish Bibles, (and lots of English Bibles.)
♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ Jesus loves the little children, all the little children of the world.
Red, and yellow, black, and white, they are precious in his sight.

Acts 2:37-39 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts,
and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what
shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you
in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the
gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and
to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
